After the app for the BP Group, OBCC now presents the World of Compliance platform — cooperation with Sifar in the field of work safety — A preprint of an article from the Fuldaer Zeitung

In times of Corona, two topics in particular dominate discussions about the degree of digitalization and thus the future of companies: green tech and process mining. In other words, the eco-balance of companies and the data-driven analysis of processes and the resulting possibilities for their optimization. So it’s no wonder that not only industry, but also small and medium-sized companies are looking for software solutions on these two topics for a wide variety of sub-areas, from occupational safety and production to training and communication.

Two international corporations have found what they are looking for in Eastern Hessen, more precisely at OBCC GmbH & Co. KG (Open Blockchain Company) in Fulda. For the past three years, the company has been developing app solutions for digital learning at school and at work, for digital government agencies, and for virtual conferences. Applications, especially in the areas of training and communication, can also be found on OBCC’s latest platform: the World of Compliance. Behind this is a construction kit of eight different apps that can be combined individually according to the needs of the customer to create a company app.

“We are of course pleased that OBCC’s software solutions not only attract attention far beyond the borders of Fulda, but also renowned customers,” says Managing Director Walter Lorz. OBCC is particularly proud of the development of an app for BP. This is a completely new information system for contractors of the group, which has met with a positive response from BP companies worldwide. “We placed the app in the stores of 65 countries at BP’s request so that it could be used globally,” says Lorz, describing the dimension of the project.

On this basis, he says, it was now only logical to re-sort the portfolio of apps, to add to it in a meaningful way in order to build the OBCC World of Compliance platform from it. “With our new brand, we are now primarily addressing the topic of occupational safety with its countless facets,” says the managing director, who refers in this context to the successful cooperation with another company from Fulda: “With Marco Farnung from the company Sifar, we have a pronounced expert on the topic at our side, who provides us with great support. Not only in terms of content during development, but also with his contacts to companies throughout Germany.”

According to Lorz, it is thanks to the partnership with Sifar that OBCC is currently pushing ahead with a development for the Dutch company TenneT, which has been commissioned to build parts of a power line between the off-shore wind farms in northern and southern Germany. This is a major project in which work safety plays a very central role. Sifar, in turn, is taking care of this.

“It’s fascinating to see how individual modules from our World of Compliance are already finding favor in the market before their official launch,” says the OBCC managing director, who believes that the future viability of everything from small companies to corporate groups depends on the digitization of business processes. And psychological aspects should not be underestimated. Particularly in the broad area of compliance in companies, there are still many analog processes that unnecessarily cost a lot of time and money. The eternal paperwork often leads to a loss of acceptance among employees for compliance issues.

This is a difficult situation for companies in two respects. On the one hand, ever higher penalties for violations of applicable regulations, especially data protection (GDPR), lead to a higher financial risk. On the other hand, companies are increasingly being evaluated according to their adherence to compliance rules. And not just from an image perspective.

In all concepts for the development of our apps, OBCC paid special attention to compliance with the GDPR. This was especially true for the communication tool Chat-Companion, which allows the transmission of text. Images and video (-conferencing). “The discussions about the use of WhatsApp & Co. In companies will not abate in the future. On the contrary. “We expect on the part of the data protectors with clear specifications and associated financial restrictions in the case of an illegal use of solutions from the USA,” says Walter Lorz. And this is precisely what companies should think about in good time.

Company and corporate leaders should give more thought to the issue of employee training and development, and not just in times of Corona. For example, in the form of a company’s own training app, which can also play a central role in recruiting. For this purpose, OBCC offers the Corporate Training app — an adaptation of OBCC Classroom — a versatile application.

The next development steps for the platform are already clearly defined. For example, OBCC’s blockchain experts are currently programming a Decentralized Identity, or DID, which hides a digital key for authentication to use the apps. “The special thing about it,” says the head of the unit, Harald Ziegler, “is that a single login is enough to be able to use different apps.” In addition, he said, the DID offers other advantages. For example, he says, the digital key can be given information on authorizations for operating machines, which would not start without suitable authentication. A big plus when it comes to work safety.
